Artist (SEEMO Da BLACK CZAR) Demands Acknowledgement from DAVIDO for Alleged Use of Beat in New Single with Omaha Lay
Afrobeats megastar Davido is facing heat from music insiders and fans alike after dropping what many now call a "borrowed banger" off his new Five Album. The song, "With You" featuring Omah Lay, appears to lift a distinct guitar loop from a lesser-known 2019 track titled "Gidigbo" by OG before OG - SEEMO Da Black Czar—a track originally produced by Jos-based maestro Emjoe and released in the Album Senior in 2021.
"Gidigbo", which holds the number 9 slot on the Senior Man Album released by Doo Doo Records USA and Munataray Entertainment, was a regional hit in its own right—especially across Plateau State. The song's Afro-fusion vibes and unique guitar rhythm, crafted by Emjoe and mastered by top engineer Elmore, earned it cult recognition, especially for standout tracks like "Sarkin Yaki" featuring Terry Tha Rapman.
Now, fans are pointing fingers at Davido for allegedly recycling the exact same loop without giving any credit to the original creators. Critics argue that the global star, known for his high-profile collaborations, may have overlooked or outright lifted a sound that was "Made in Jos" and packaged it as new heat "Made in the USA."
The similarities between "Gidigbo" and "With You" are hard to ignore—and as both tracks gain attention, questions are being raised about originality, intellectual property, and respect for grassroots producers.
Listen to both tracks and decide for yourself.
