FARM PRODUCE CENTRAL MARKET
(Potatoe Value Chain, Fadama II Project)
Pwomol Heipang, Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State.
Following the widespread effects of hunger due to inflation on price of foodstuff, there's every need for private organizations, government, stakeholders in agriculture and all farmers (Public Private Partnership) to chart new adaptable and sustainable measures on improving food crop production, processing, storage, accessibility and market price control to curtail low production level and as well overcome farmers exploitation by some greedy marketers.
Plateau State being a state that produce wide variety of crops, and in line with the visions of today's government of Governor Caleb Mutfwang which promised to boost agricultural production, it's imperative that we begin to implement modern ideas of profitable marketing chain for farmers where consumers can also get good value for whatever they're purchasing.
The governor who recently hosted a team of consultants from the African Devlopment Band ADB has concluded feasibility studies, and has identified a suitable location at Heipang towards setting up a special agro processing zone, targeting an investment of nothing less than $300 million into the state.
This drive has led to the establishment of a central farm produce market in Pwomol Heipang, a strategic location due to its cool weather, closeness to the Dry Land International Airpot that has been approved by Federal Government where farmers can bring their produce and get buyers with so much ease and also reduce challenges wastage of vegetables, roots and tubers.
As this team of Agro Allied marketers reel out this plan, we look forward to seeing its impact soon.
