## Unraveling the Enigma of Madam Koi Koi: An Eerie Tale from Federal Government College Ibillo

#

Venturing back to my days at the Federal Government College in Ibillo, Edo state, nostalgia is intertwined with spine-chilling memories of what we termed the "Mystery of Madam Koi Koi." Dorm life was a conglomerate of eerie incidents that left an indelible mark on our young minds. In a hostel housing up to 70 students, both juniors and seniors, the nights were often draped in an unsettling cloak of fear and uncertainty.

Strange occurrences became a norm. Noises reverberated during the night, akin to someone stealthily pacing between our beds, persisting till the early hours. Such an unsettling ambiance was exacerbated by an incident where unknown individuals infiltrated our sanctuary, perpetrating hair-cutting acts that targeted both the head and private parts of unsuspecting students. The school's response was to seek the intervention of the traditional ruler, prompting the invocation of local deities to curse the perpetrators.

The absence of in-hostel toilets meant nocturnal visits outside became an anxiety-laden chore. Students had to accompany each other for safety, a small semblance of protection in an environment fraught with unexplained phenomena. Peculiar marks would inexplicably adorn some students' bodies, a haunting testament to the inexplicable events unfolding within our confines. Our pleas to parents and teachers were met with skepticism, leaving us to grapple with our fears in isolation.

Among the myriad tales that circulated, the legend of Madam Koi Koi loomed large. A spectral figure whose presence was signified by the sound of her footsteps, though many, including myself, never actually witnessed her. Yet, the fear she instilled was palpable enough to send us scurrying under our bunks for safety.

Nights held their own macabre spectacle: students purportedly gnashing their teeth, inexplicable movements of seemingly animate objects, and eerie manifestations like a dragging bucket in the dead of night. Strangely, these occurrences faded into obscurity during our daytime rest hours, amplifying the surreal nature of the phenomena.

As a junior student, my accounts were often dismissed. However, an unexpected turn of events transpired when a senior student's bloodcurdling scream pierced the silence of the night. A creature, reminiscent of a bear but far from anything we'd known, made a sudden appearance, sending some students scrambling to safety.

This inexplicable sighting finally brought credence to the inexplicable events that had plagued our nights. It shattered the veil of disbelief, forcing us to confront the inexplicable reality that had coexisted with us within those hostel walls.

The Mystery of Madam Koi Koi remains an enigma, a collection of unexplained phenomena that, to this day, continues to haunt the memories of all who experienced the unexplainable at the Federal Government College in Ibillo.

2023: Catholics Berate Lalong Over Attempt To Drag Pope Into Politics

August 11, 2022  Concerned Catholics in Nigeria have called for the suspension of Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong for dragging the name of Pope into local politics that has nothing to do with the Church. According to the group, Lalong should be punished for bringing the name of Pope and the Catholic Church to disrepute while giving his reasons for accepting to serve as Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. Speaking as a press conference in Abuja addressed by National Convener/President, Dr Ben Amodu, said the concerned Catholics in Nigeria are alarmed that Lalong would elect to throw caution into the wind by dragging the revered Catholic Church into local politics in Nigeria for whatever it is worth. “The reference to the Pope in his statement for accepting to serve as the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council was made in poor taste and a puerile attempt to drag the Catholic Church into a matter that has no bearing with the
