Dear Governor Mutfwang,

We, the Plateau Report Group, write this open letter to bring to your attention the dire situation faced by several communities in Plateau State due to repeated incidents of transformer component theft. The areas mentioned below have been plunged into darkness, severely affecting the lives and livelihoods of the residents:

3. Fwagul Angwan - 2 transformers
4. Wyit Community behind Total filling station, Bukuru
5. Bwangdang, Bukuru
6. Kwata Za'ang
7. Community opposite Police Staff College
8. Raku Sot in Gyel
9. Fwavwei, Rayfield
10. Longwa, Kufang
11. Abattoir (Now fixed)
12. Diye, Zaramaganda (around Nevic Gas)
13. Diye, around Shuna Academy
14. Kuru Trade Centre
15. Rukuba Road

17. Zarmaganda, around Abba quarters

These areas have been suffering from prolonged power outages, causing immense hardships to the residents, hampering businesses, and negatively impacting the overall development of the affected communities. We urge you, Governor Mutfwang, to prioritize this issue and take immediate action to address the situation.

In light of the gravity of the problem, we propose the following interventions:

1. Increased Security Measures: Enhance security around the transformers by deploying security personnel, installing surveillance cameras, and implementing measures to deter theft and vandalism.

2. Community Engagement: Establish community watch groups to collaborate with security agencies and report any suspicious activities or individuals around the transformers. Encourage residents to be vigilant and safeguard these vital assets.

3. Awareness Campaigns: Conduct awareness programs to educate communities about the consequences of transformer component theft and the importance of preserving public infrastructure. Emphasize the detrimental impact on their own lives and encourage them to report any suspicious activities.

4. Collaboration with Law Enforcement Agencies: Strengthen collaboration with relevant law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute individuals involved in transformer component theft. Ensure that the perpetrators face severe penalties to deter others from engaging in similar criminal activities.

5. Swift Replacement and Repair: Expedite the process of replacing stolen transformer components and repairing damaged transformers. This will restore electricity supply to the affected areas promptly and alleviate the hardships faced by the residents.

6. Technology Implementation: Explore the implementation of advanced technology such as smart meters and remote monitoring systems to enhance the security of transformers. These technologies can provide real-time notifications of any tampering attempts or theft incidents, allowing for immediate response.

Governor Mutfwang, we kindly request your urgent intervention in resolving this issue and restoring power supply to the affected areas. By doing so, you will not only alleviate the suffering of the residents but also demonstrate your commitment to the welfare and development of Plateau State.

We appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your prompt action. Together, we can bring about positive change and ensure a brighter future for all the communities in Plateau State.

Yours sincerely,

Plateau Report Group
