The Association of Table Water Producers (ATWAP) has raised the price of pure water also know as sachet water from 200 to N300 per bag.
National President, Clementina Ativie made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday.
The decision was unanimously reached during the ATWAP national convention in Abuja.
Ativie explained that the increment was due to current prices of material and Nigeria’s economic situation.
“The price of sachet water popularly known as pure water is now N300 per bag as the company price.
“There will be no extra bag or extra pieces henceforth for wholesale or retail buyers,” she said.
The President added that the cost of production had gone far beyond what they can bear.
She said the new rate would help them to keep up with bills and remain in business.
The statement appealed to citizens to be understanding and bear with the association.
Meanwhile, the association had in September 2021, increased the price of sachet water from N180 to N200 over claims of rising production cost.
Last year justifying the sachet water price increase, the ATWAP National President said:
“We started sales of sachet water in 1998. Then fuel price was N11.00 per litre of fuel. Pure water nylon was N170,000 per tonne. Packing bag was N700.00 per bundle. We were selling a bag of pure water, which contains 20 sachets for, and the retailers were selling N50.00 per bag to the retailers and a sachet for N5.00 per sachet to the general public.“A roll of nylon per kilogramme for packing sachet water is now being sold for N1,700 from the initial N600, while the nylon for bagging the product has jumped from N1,600 to N3,500,”
