Schoolteacher and accomplice arrested for abducting, k!lling and burying a 5-year-old girl

Abdulmalik Tanko, a teacher at a private school in Kano, has been arrested by the police for abducting and k!lling a 5-year-old pupil, Hanifa Abubakar.

According to the image maker of the state’s police command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the victim’s teacher, and his accomplice have been arrested. “On December 4, 2021, a report was received from a resident of Dakata Quarters, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State that, one Hanifa Abubakar, ‘f’, 5, was kidnapped and a ransom of 
₦6m was demanded.

An investigation was launched and it led to the arrest of Abdulmalik Mohammed Tanko, ‘m’, 30, and one Hashim Isyaku, ‘m’, 37. Abdulmalik confessed that the victim is a student at his school. He kidnapped her and took her to his house where he contacted her relatives and demanded ₦6m. On December 18, having realized that the victim could recognize him, he po!somed her to de#th.
He conspired with Hashim and they buried her in a shallow grave located at the school premises. Hashim on the other hand, confessed that a month before the incident, he met Abdulmalik and one Fatima Jibreel Musa, ‘f’, 27, and ordered them to kidnap Hanifa.

The suspects led the police team to the scene. The body was exhumed and confirmed d#ad by a medical doctor. She was buried by her relatives according to Islamic rites.” Meanwhile, an uncle of the victim, Suraj Sulaiman, said that Abdulmalik was among the first set of people who came to console the family of the victim after the abduction.
