Abuja Rice Pyramid Were Imported From Neighbouring Countries - Stakeholder Alleges CBN Scam

Senator Hanga Rufai is one of the stakeholders in rice production in Kano State. Speaking with Sunday Sun in a telephone interview, he dismissed the unveiling of the rice pyramid in Abuja as a scam. According to him, the bulk of the rice they showcased was imported from the neighbouring countries to augment the small quantity produced locally in Nigeria so that they could cover up the money they have stolen from the Anchor Borrower Programme. He said: “It is a scam. In a situation where bandits did not allow people to go to the farms, how could they have produced such a huge quantity of rice they showcased? Even where the bandits allowed farmers to farm, they didn’t allow them to harvest. In some cases, they went and razed their farms with fire. Not up to 20 per cent of our land last year and the year before was cultivated because of this banditry that is all over the Northwest. “It is a scam because the Anchor Borrowers coordinators were stealing the money. “Kano is one of

THE STORY OF ETIM ESIN - The Nigerian star footballer who could have been the World Best Player but lost it all due to youthful exuberance.

THE STORY OF ETIM ESIN - the Nigerian star footballer who could have been the World Best Player but lost it all due to youthful exuberance. Yes, before the days of Jay-Jay Okocha, there was a playmaker in the Nigerian team who was a great dribbler and was even nicknamed "The African Maradona". His name, Etim Esin. Who is Etim, how special was he, what did he do, and how did he lose it all? I was at my family house last weekend and in the course of discussing football and AFCON with my dad, he recalled a particularly interesting story of Etim Esin that caught my attention. I had to go dig for more, and here is everything I found. It was 1987 and the Nigerian U-20 team were in camp around Surulere, preparing to leave the country in a few days for the World Cup in Chile.  Etim Esin was the star boy of the team, a supremely gifted player who had something extra each time he was on the ball. Former Super Eagles striker Charles Okonkwo once said Etim Esin was one of the

MALI COUPE: TOUCHING MESSAGE FROM MILITARY LEADER.

"I am aware that am a mortal, I am not perfect. History will judge me one day, but until then all I ask for is your support.  I did not choose this path on my own. She imposed herself on me. God alone knows what He's doing. I will strive to get to the end, but if I die before reaching our goal, do continue the project without me and lay the groundwork for change with my blood and my flesh. No sacrifice is so much for this country.   I am not Thomas Sankara, nor Jerry Rawlings. I am Assimi Goïta. Remember me as a reformer not a revolutionary. Remember me as the bearer of hope to the people, the one who came when your blood was shed for your desire for change. I will go to the end of my mission. I will never betray your trust.   Death doesn't scare me, I saw it every day on the battlefield, it's failure that scares me. If death marries me on the way to our target, do not mourn me. Don't make my grave a sanctuary. I did what I thought was right for my count

TUESDAY CORNER (090)

TUESDAY CORNER (090) It is often said that, 'not all that glitters is gold'. Maybe we can use the same token to say, 'not all rice (pyramids) is rice (on the plate)'. Last week President Buhari in company of some State Governors unveiled rice pyramids in Nigeria although I am not really certain what their intentions were because, I believe, the pyramids stand to give a false impression of rice revolution in Nigeria. Nigeria has the potential to produce such kinds of pyramid in every state but as it is now, rice pyramids can hardly be seen on plates. Truth be told, Rice production in Nigeria under President Buhari is better than that of previous administrations. I guess, I should have said "was better" because the activities of Bandits and Boko Haram have practically driven farmers off their farms. I am surprised the managed to scape this much from the farmers for display in front of the cameras. I doubt if a measure of rice anywhere in Nigeria - re

AFCON: Like Pigeons, Eagles touched by Buhari refused to fly - Sen. Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, has taunted the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), saying like the pigeons he touched in 2021, the Super Eagles of Nigeria failed to fly after he held a video conference with the team on Sunday shortly before the match with Tunisia. The ex-lawmaker said this in a cryptic tweet on Monday, noting that Buhari’s only miracle is his rice pyramid. “He toucheth the pigeon, it refused to fly. He talketh to the Eagle, it refused to fly. Oh yea brethren, thy King in Egypt hath no miracles but pyramids,” he tweeted. In January 2021 during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony, the doves, otherwise known as white pigeons, released by the President had refused to fly despite multiple attempts by the President thereby sparking a debate on social media. This elicited reactions from Nigerians, some of whom described the incident as a “bad sign” but presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, had said the do
