Simon Bako Lalong made a generational call by appointing Daser David, CEO of nHub, a Jos based ICT firm as Director General of Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA). This call have so far proved to be one of the most important decision made by the Lalong administration.
WHAT PICTDA IS ALL ABOUT
Plateau Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA) is the body responsible for creating and managing ICT structure of the state.

In its description, it is said that PICTDA shall develop policies, standards, guidelines, and frameworks as well as capabilities, skillsets, and resources that will add strategic value and increase business productivity within Plateau State Government and the entire state. Their Vision is to make Plateau State to be among the best three ICT Hubs in West Africa by 2025.

DASER DAVID IN OFFICE
On assuming duty, Mr. Daser said his dream is to create a ‘Silicon Plateau’ to reduce youth unemployment.
He have since overseen the establishment of 17 innovation hubs in the 17 local government areas of Plateau to ensure job creation for the youth. He noted that the Silicon Plateau would serve as a Nexus to supervise all the IT hubs in the state. “Seventy per cent of the youth in Plateau are unemployable and it is a major problem.
“Most of these youths are still waiting for government to provide jobs for them. ” To reduce this issue, the state government is trying to fund the creation of innovation hubs at the local government level to provide opportunities for graduates to train as software developers at the hubs. ”
We want a situation whereby jobs can be outsourced to Jos and not vice versa,” he said.
PICTDA have been publicly regarded regarded by a vast majority of Plateau youths as the most active and impactful MDA on the Plateau having changed lives of thousands of Plateau youths by providing endless opportunities for them through the Code Plateau project.

CODE PLATEAU?
Code Plateau is an 8 months full-time immersive Software Development Bootcamp that is designed for young people who want to start their career in IT and kick-start their portfolio of real-life projects that utilizes modern technology stacks.
At the end of the Code Plateau Fellowship, fellows are expected to be able to build impressive, portfolio-ready projects that will demonstrate their ability to add value to their new job as software engineers. This intensive program is for those who are committed to having tangible, job-ready skills upon graduation
Plateau State and its teaming youths are still hungry for more from the DG and the captain of the Rescue Administration, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong.
