It would appear that the PDP now has a clear direction following the peaceful National Convention which was organized in Abuja last weekend. The convention saw the emergence of Senator Iyorchia Ayu as the new PDP National Chairman along with 20 other members of the party's executive council. Indeed, the party deserves commendation for proper planning and execution of the convention, especially in view of the fact that at almost every political gathering of up 100 members in Nigeria is platform for a brawl. Fintiri's committee led about 3,600 delegates to vote peacefully and that must be commended. Perhaps, their prolonged stay from the national cake had also informed a peaceful negotiation because what can not be done with cold water can hardly be done with hot water. In the past, dramas involving PDP1 and PDP2 or PDP and nPDP were a common sight at National Conventions. Lesson learnt?
Still on political matters, albeit a crisis-ridden one, the Plateau State House of Assembly split into two consequent upon the attempted impeachment of the Speaker Rt. Hon. Ayuba Abok. It is imperative to state that in most states in Nigeria the office of the speaker is designed for puppets and yes-sir-only people and as such the moment a speaker begins to demonstrate that he can think on his own he is immediately marked for impeachment. Well, the tit-for-tat theorists maintain that karma is catching up with Ayuba Abok being that he endorsed the illegitimate impeachment of Hon. Isaac Kwallu, former Chairman of Quanpan LGC. However, considering the precarious situation of Plateau State, impeaching the Speaker will only cause a house to further divide against itself and when that happens the grass suffers. Now the screening of new Commissioners is on hold as well as other matters. Most importantly, the State's budget for 2022 is being stalled because the House can't sit. In the midst of all these, the Plateau Elders, like the Big Wigs that drummed support for Oga to become President or the "Pankshin Elders" have gone to sleep over fracas in Plateau State House of Assembly. If we frowned at "16 is greater than 19", we would still frown at "8 is greater than 12". The Governor must realize that the more he invokes the might of his office on every issue, the more unpopular he becomes. However, like Pilate, his Excellency has washed his hands off the matter, claiming, or feigning, his innocence. A viral "ba ruwa na" photo has been made to that effect.
Still in the spirit of "Ba ruwa na" (meaning "I am innocent" in Hausa), the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has since denied his involvement in the raid on Justice Mary Odili's house in Abuja last Friday. Naturally, all fingers pointed towards him knowing his penchant for circumventing the rule of law. Justice Mary Odili's house was raided by unknown security personnel (likely the DSS) following a tip-off by a whistle blower on some shady activities at No. 7 Imo Street Maitama, to which a search warrant was surreptitiously prepared by a Chief Magistrate. It turned out that Justice Odili's House was at No. 9 and they still raided it anyway. Since 2016, security operatives have been raiding houses of Justices, mostly from the south, and nothing has been coming forth from such actions in spite of the fact that it is very illegal. Yet, a government that has an SAN as her VP keeps recycling the same shit.
The same government is always quick to point to the past, blaming the former Government for Nigeria's plight. But the economic climate is so hot and not even Diezani's designer bra with a diamond link worth $12 million can cool it. I still wonder why they have yet to sell the bra and use the money for some project already. Currently, that bra is worth 6 billion naira and I am quite curious about the kind of breast should be behind that bra. That breast must be better that Cossy Orjiakor's own or at least it should flow with golden milk. Sagged breasts should manage a 2k bra while we sell the designer bra biko.
See you next week!
