Whitlow is an infection many have people suffered from in both urban and rural areas.
As a result of this ailment, few victims have lost their fingers/toes while some have got permanent deformation on affected areas.
The severe pains that is associated with this disease have give us a reason for this awareness. It's a duty to save people with information.
There are various traditional ways/means that have been employed by different people in attempt to cure this infection but none could actually stand to be effective.
Some people take antibiotics, others apply Lelle leaves, potash, hypo, burning of affected with fire, et.c., yet none of these methods can be said to have yielded positive.
Below is the plant of which I couldn't get a real agriculturist who can tell me the English or scientific name. But I know the name as 'toenes' in Kwalla language of plateau state.
This plant can only be familiar people in the Agricultural and aquatic facet or people living in rural areas but nevertheless, I will tell u where and how to get this Whitlow cure plant.
The plant mostly grows around riversides and in some loamy soiled areas. Look at the pictures above and look at plants around any of your close riversides with distance of at least 30meters from the river bank.
After getting the plant, boil it for at least 10mins. Below is a picture illustration to help you:
Prior to this, Water quantity depends on size of plant in use, so, after the water boils for the said minutes, bring it down from fire and place the affected part (toes or fingers) to the steam coming out of the boiled solution for 5mins.
Lastly, put the affected finger or toe inside the semi hot water. You can remove your hands or toes immediately it hurts for at most 10secs then put it back continuously. Illustration given below:
As the water finally gets colder, do not discard the blissful solution. After at most 14hours, follow the same procedures, and soon you will experience the disease dying after three days at most.
