As Plateau State Governor Hon. Dr Simon Bako Lalong dissolves Council Chairmen today September 8, 2021, one name was singled out for mass criticism: Hon. Yusuf Abdulmalik of Quaan-Pan LGC.
Recall Abdulmalik who was Deputy Chairman to Hon. Dr. Isaac Kyale Kwallu FCIA, dramatically took over the affairs of Q-P LGC few minutes after his superior was announced to be impeached.
But the general proceedings from the suspension and impeachment of IKK to the Swearing In of Abdulmalik left the masses in awe. This have made Abdulmalik a target for critics and termed a betrayer of his boss.
IS ABDULMALIK TRULY GUILTY?
This question have been yearning for answer since July, 2020 when Isaac Kwallu was impeached till now.
Constitution vindicates Abdulmalik since it's statutory that in the event where a chairman is suspended/impeached, the deputy takes over unless the deputy is involved in the allegation/crime. He is innocent on this premise.
WHY THEN IS HE CRUCIFIED?
Having been the 2nd citizen in Kwallu's Divine Mandate administration, Abdulmalik was never going to go scot-free since he claimed to have found nothing wrong with that illegal impeachment and went on to be sworn in.
In case you ever doubt that IKK's suspension to impeachment was a witch-hunt by some selfish leaders, the recent judgment of Appeal Court in Jos have answered all.
Aside being a snitch, Abdulmalik who lacks the gift of charity also converted several council properties to his own notably cars via unlawful auction. He also commission zero projects in the same period of time IKK took to set QP on road to paradise. But as guilty he is, Abdulmalik only acted a script.
WHO MASTERMINDS IKK'S IMPEACHMENT
Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Nuhu Abok announced the suspension of IKK for being insubordinate to his boss, Governor? This announcement came weeks after IKK declared his intention to contest for the vacant seat of Southern Zone Senate after Longjan's demise.
Our hungry councilors also played a part when a particular DG paid to get their signature.
Some of our elders smile home with bags full of cash including one prominent petroleum marketer while some people enjoyed appointments especially Deputy chairperson.
This record have made Abdulmalik a political betrayer to be careful of as well as his paymasters before the entirety of the political climate in Plateau State.
